Do Seasonal Tires Make a Difference?

Unfortunately, we've reached the end of summer, so we're looking ahead to colder driving conditions. Prepping your Chevy, Buick, or GMC vehicle is key to your performance during the changing seasons, and that includes your tires. So, do seasonal tires make a difference in Wetaskiwin and Ponoka? The answer is yes!

  • As the sun bears down on the roads in the summer, the pavement heats up. Summer tires are engineered to withstand higher pavement temperatures, and to handle rainy road conditions. Cold weather prevents summer tires from handling as well, and can even lead to tire damage.
  • On the other hand, winter tires are engineered to withstand cold weather situations. And with heavier and larger treads, they do a much better job of handling on snowy and icy roads. Hot weather will wear down the tread on winter tires much faster, meaning you'll have to replace them sooner if left on year round.
  • All-season tires meet somewhere in the middle. They can withstand hot and cold temperatures, and rainy and snowy road conditions. But here's the catch: while all-seasons are fine in all seasons, they don't necessarily excel in any season like specific seasonal tires do.
